The State-wide and Mental Health Service are seeking a Community Medical Officer (Alcohol and Drug Services) for a career opportunity in Tasmania. Working with the Tasmanian Alcohol and Drug Service, you will become an integral part of a dynamic and professional team.

Service priorities at present include:

• Provide direct patient care in the Inpatient and Withdrawal Unit at Alcohol and Drug Service and relief in Pharmacotherapy Unit and Community Team as required.
• Assess the appropriateness of methadone or buprenorphine treatment for opioid dependant persons
• Advice clients on the appropriate treatment of their drug or alcohol dependence and related concerns and implement or facilitate such treatment
• Participate in case conferences with other team members to facilitate individualised treatment, and to plan clinical management strategies.
• Appropriately manage drug and alcohol withdrawal in an inpatient setting
