The State-wide and Mental Health Service are seeking a Community Medical Officer (Alcohol and Drug Services) for a career opportunity in Tasmania. Working with the Tasmanian Alcohol and Drug Service, you will become an integral part of a dynamic and professional team.
The team of senior staff have joined the service from all over Australia and they have an amazing wealth and range of experience.
Service priorities at present include:
- Provide direct patient care in the Inpatient and Withdrawal Unit at Alcohol and Drug Service and relief in Pharmacotherapy Unit and Community Team as required.
- Assess the appropriateness of methadone or buprenorphine treatment for opioid dependant persons
- Advice clients on the appropriate treatment of their drug or alcohol dependence and related concerns and implement or facilitate such treatment
- Participate in case conferences with other team members to facilitate individualised treatment, and to plan clinical management strategies.
- Appropriately manage drug and alcohol withdrawal in an inpatient setting
