Sidney Sax Medal Dinner

The Sidney Sax Medal is awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the development and improvement of the Australian healthcare system in the field of health services policy, organisation, delivery and research. Previous winners have included Dr Len Notaras, NT Health; Professor Judith Dwyer, Flinders University; and John Smith, West Wimmera Health Service.

AHHA awarded the 2016 Sidney Sax Medal to Professor Helena Britt at a networking dinner following the AHHA AGM, held in Brisbane on 19 October 2016.

The dinner featured Sean Parnell, Health Editor The Australian as the guest speaker. Sean has a unique insight into health politics and is highly respected for his ability to unearth the stories behind the news – particularly using Freedom of Information requests to gain insights into Commonwealth health data and activity. Professor Britt, who led work on the Bettering the Evaluation and Care of Health (BEACH) program on primary health data collection also spoke during the dinner.
