  • The role of Executive Director Governance plays an integral role in the Executive team and provides vision and strategic direction to the WBHHS’s governance (clinical and corporate) programs. The role includes ensuring ongoing high level leadership, accountability and advice to promote organisational accountability and transparency in the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the governance frameworks, integrated planning, strategy management, performance framework and systems for the organisation.
  • The position is accountable for the effective interplay between the WBHHS corporate and clinical governance programs to ensure a strategically focussed approach to compliance, which not only meets legislative requirements, but drives the attainment of organisational goals and objectives in the provision of high-reliability health care.
  • The position operates in a complex environment involving a wide range of competing priorities and stakeholders, with often very short timelines. The Executive Director, Governance Strategy and Planning is required to deliver high level, sensitive policy advice and take autonomous actions in support of the functions of the Health Service Chief Executive and the Hospital and Health Board.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven high level experience and knowledge of health service management, planning, and governance processes.
  • High level ability to respond to clinical governance challenges including the ability to provide strategic leadership and expert advice.
  • High level conceptual and problem solving skills including organisational behaviour, change management, the ability to analyse evidence and provide advice on policies, strategies and recommended solutions.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including conflict resolution, negotiation, consultation and communication skills.
  • High motivation to achieve goals related to health improvements and delivery of high quality services and ability to incorporate quality improvement activities and validated research into practice.
  • Track record in improving services and establishing robust systems to monitor service performance.
