One in three Australians will need blood in their lifetime. At the Australian Red Cross Blood Service, we're entrusted with collecting, processing and delivering this vital supply. We also provide a range of other services to the healthcare sector related to transplantation and immunogenics, testing, consulting, education and research. 

The National Donor Care Advisor will provide expertise, guidance and governance nationally on matter which ensure that the Blood Service provides an environment which supports excellent donor care, health and safety, donor satisfaction and loyalty. 

As a member of the Clinical Services and Research Senior Management team, you will contribute to the development of donor and product safety policies, providing expert advice to policies relating to direct clinical care for blood donors. You will provide expertise and support implementation of key clinical initiatives and clinical trials, such as implementation of initiatives to reduce the risk of donor adverse events and mitigate the risk of iron deficiency. You will boht inform and provide in relation to donor care to ensure the Blood Service meets compliance and professional standards to enable the efficient, sufficient, safe and timely collection of blood and blood products within a service excellence culture and aligned to patient demand.

Your challenge is to manage both internal and external interfaces in relation to donor care, health and safety, donor satisfaction and loyalty, whilst building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationship and leading the team to excellence.

Skills and Experience:

You will have

  • Relevant health or nursing qualifications coupled with contemporary clinical management experience,
  • Successful experience in leading, managing and developing multidisciplinary teams in a National or matrix organisation, including exceptional leadership capabilities
  • The ability to promote and maintain a working environment which empowers employees and generates customer satisfaction and loyalty through service excellence
  • Experience in operating in a highly regulated and/or quality system environment
  • Demonstrated competency in efficient and effective delivery of a service including continuous improvement

You will also be

  • An excellent communicator, demonstrating leadership and contemporary management experience
  • Competent in performance management and facilitating the professional and general development of others
  • Able to anticipate and respond to new initiatives, changing conditions and shifting priorities
