Spokesperson:
Australian Dental and Oral Health Therapists’ Association Inc. (ADOHTA)

The Australian Dental and Oral Health Therapists’ Association Inc. (ADOHTA) have endorsed the Federal Government’s $4 billion funding commitment to Oral Health.

The additional funding on top of that already announced in the May budget demonstrates the government’s commitment to turn the tide of deteriorating Australian oral health.

The provision of basic dental care for 3.4 million children and some eligible adults will address dental issues in the preventative stages.

President of ADOHTA, Julie Barker, said Dental and Oral Health Therapists and Dental Hygienists work in a high standard of care in preventative oral health.

Over 40% of Australians, including children, do not get regular dental care, “Dental and Oral Health Therapists and Dental Hygienists have the opportunity to turn the tide on these figures by providing preventative oral care at the early stages” Ms Barker said.

ADOHTA are pleased to see the Gillard Government’s commitment to oral health reform, and the increased emphasis on preventative measures.
