2009 Issues Paper - Clinical Handover - System Change, Leadership and Principles

The Australian Healthcare & Hospitals Association brought together a working group to augment work in the hospitals sector on clinical handover, a core program of the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care. In consultation with the Commission, the AHHA group tested key principles for national adoption. Many enabling factors such as consistent implementation and application of e-health technologies are still in process, but there are some simple things that all hospitals and health services can do to improve the handover of patient information.
