AHHA Vision
By representing its members as the national and international voice for Australian publicly funded healthcare services, to ensure services provided by the Australian healthcare system are universally accessible, of high quality, efficient and responsive to the needs of the nation
AHHA Purpose
- To be the peak independent membership body for all publicly funded healthcare services in Australia
- To lead and support members in high level health services policy development and advocacy to governments and the media
- To provide high quality, relevant information through networks, publications and events
- To provide high quality evidence-based research and consultancy services
AHHA Values

The right of all Australians to:
- equity of access to the healthcare system
- health services of high quality, delivered by skilled professionals, that are appropriate and responsive to their needs and coordinated across all settings
- National healthcare policy solutions that are socially, economically and environmentally sustainable
- National healthcare services that are efficiently and adequately resourced to ensure sustainability and safety
- The importance of assimilating the diverse contributions from all governments, communities, stakeholders and consumers of the healthcare system
AHHA Key Result Areas
- MEMBERSHIP – Build and maintain a committed and engaged membership, aiming for 75% of public healthcare services
- POLICY DEVELOPMENT & RESEARCH
2.1 POLICY DEVELOPMENT – Build and maintain highly visible policy development program, utilising the diverse expertise of networked ‘communities of interest’ to develop a body of relevant, evidence based policies and timely responses to reviews and inquiries
2.2 RESEARCH INSTITUTE – Partner with selected universities to establish a Research Institute to undertake health services research
- ADVOCACY & REPRESENTATION
3.1 ADVOCACY
a. Promote and advance the implementation of innovative policies which are accepted and well-resourced by governments
b. Attain an effective influence on the Australian Health Reform agenda to achieve the best possible outcomes for the system and the community
3.2 REPRESENTATION – Advocate for and represent members on matters of interest or concern to them
- KNOWLEDGE
4.1 NETWORKS – Build and maintain international and national industry networks of people working in hospital and healthcare organisations, creating a stimulating environment for learning through analysis, review, sharing and development of health policy and practice
4.2 PUBLICATIONS – Publish relevant and current information on health industry research, innovations, policies, news and events
4.3 EVENTS – Convene stimulating events (Conferences, Policy Think Tanks, Roundtables, Seminars)
- BUSINESS
5.1 JUST HEALTH CONSULTANTS – Build a sustainable consultancy business to support the ongoing provision of high quality membership products and services
5.2 TRAINING – Provide, through partnerships, exclusive training programs for health service professionals
5.3 OTHER – Maintain and expand other business enterprise (JustHealth Jobs, advertising, sponsorship)
- GOVERNANCE & ADMINISTRATION
6.1 GOVERNANCE – Maintain high level reporting systems and protocols to ensure effective governance
6.2 ADMINISTRATION – Maintain workforce, systems and procedures which facilitate effective and smooth running of the organisation
