Mental Health Victoria and Community Mental Health Australia are delighted to host the 2nd Annual NDIS & Mental Health Conference from 31 October to 01 November 2018, at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. 

Our Master of Ceremonies this year will be the Dr. Norman Swan, host of ABC Radio National’s Health Report.

The event will feature keynote presentations from international and Australian experts, alongside lived experience and service providers presenting on a diverse range of insightful and inspiring topics in mental health.

The key concepts for the 2018 Conference will include:​​

Implementation of the 5th National Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Plan;
- The evaluation and measurement of National plans
- National plans from a mental health consumer & carer perspective (what difference do they make, how do         
  consumers engage in these plans etc.)
- Integration of state and national plans (roadblocks to implementation).

The intersection of physical and mental health;
- Evidence/models that assist people to improve their mental health through participation and physical health
- Mental health and diet, nutrition and exercise – solutions, models that work
- Services or programs that demonstrate an effective, holistic approach to client care.

Examples of better client outcomes in both mental and physical health in research and translated into practice.

Integrated service models;
- Services or programs that demonstrate linkages and connections internally and externally that lead to better client
  outcomes
- Innovative ways of improving a consumer / clients journey into and across different parts of the service system
- Regional / remote examples of integration of care.

Co-design / Co-production of mental health service delivery;
- Examples of programs and services that reflect the principles and practice of co-design and co-production
- Innovation in the area of co-design and co-production
- Demonstrating the value of lived experience in improving consumer outcomes through co-designed services.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mental health;
- Understanding trauma and history in ATSI mental health
- Community-driven services and whether they produce more sustainable outcomes
- The addressing of ATSI mental health in light of social determinants
- Learning from indigenous mental health policies and services in other countries
- Suicide prevention programs/policies in light of the increasing rate of ATSI suicide.

Integration of the NDIS into the broader mental health system;
- How the NDIS is ‘fitting’ as one segment of the broader health system – issues and solutions.
- The interface of the NDIS with clinical, forensic and community services
- Examples of services and programs that are improving the pathway of participants across different parts of the
  system.

Service, Quality and Safety.
-Implementation of the Quality and Safeguarding Framework
-Organisational considerations in providing safe and quality services in a competitive environment
-What does it mean to provide ‘quality’ services (NDIS and other?)
-The outcome measures in providing ‘quality’ services
-‘Safeguarding’ service provision in the new environment

The Conference will be extensively promoted throughout Australia to NDIS participants; carers; mental health service providers; State, Territory and Commonwealth Government Departments; primary health networks; medical professionals and psychologists; and academia.

700 delegates are expected over two days, helping you to expand your professional network and fostering collaboration within the sector.
