  • The Director reports to the Executive Director Human Resource Services, and is accountable for the overall performance of the Employee Relations, Recruitment and Workforce Services teams located within the Human Resource Service (HRS) division, as well as the achievement of defined performance indicators.
  • The Director will be directly responsible for 23 staff, providing HR direction and management in the delivery of Human Resource Services across the 3600 employees of the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service (WBHHS). This position drives enhanced organisational performance within the WBHHS.
  • This position is a business partner with the Executive Leadership Team in relation to leadership and management of all aspects of the employee relations, recruitment and workforce within the WBHHS. It is responsible for the establishment and monitoring of systems which provide analytical and remedial advice about standards of performance to ensure that decisions are fully informed in relation to the key areas of risk and opportunities to achieve best practice performance.

Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to successfully lead the operational delivery of an organisation’s Human Resource strategy and achieve a measurable and enduring impact on organisational capability and performance.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with applicable laws / regulations and management theories including policy / procedure development, labour union activities, strong organisational skills in areas including operations, budget and project administration; effective interface with diverse groups; and exemplary management skills.
  • Highly developed expertise in the application of contemporary human resources management, legislation, principles and practices and demonstrated ability in the provision of authoritative and professional advice to senior executives and line management.
  • Sophisticated consulting and communication skills which are conducive to the establishment and maintenance of business partnerships and including investigation, negotiation, written and advocacy skills.
  • Highly developed leadership and managerial proficiency, including the ability to develop a high performing team, and to apply resource management skills to ensure resources are optimally allocated in meeting defined goals.
  • Highly developed analytical and diagnostic skills with the demonstrated ability to formulate, negotiate and implement proactive strategies and the capacity to deal with abstract and complex organisational issues.
