Engagement Manager - Marketing, Communications, Fundraising

We’re looking a highly motivated individual to lead the development and implementation of our strategic communications, fundraising and advocacy strategies. You will lead initiatives to build engagement with health sector stakeholders, government (federal, state and local), CAHA members, supporters and donors.


Reporting to the Executive Director, this leadership role will play a critical role in CAHA’s ability to deliver on its core goals and objectives to build a powerful health sector movement for climate action, nationally and internationally. You will be joining a committed team with a strong culture of collaboration, inclusiveness, integrity, and commitment to social and environmental justice.


The Engagement Manager will work closely with the Executive Director to develop and implement the organisation’s fundraising strategy, with a particular focus on building CAHA’s philanthropic, corporate and government funding base. The Engagement Manager will work with the leadership team to develop and drive the organisation’s communications strategy. You will use your communication and marketing skills to expand CAHA’s membership, and leverage CAHA’s extensive supporter network to build a community of active supporters as well as regular donors.

You will be responsible for:

  • Delivering internal and external communications, fundraising campaigns, marketing and events
  • Identifying and building strong relationships with prospective philanthropic and corporate partners
  • Developing formal pitches and cases for support
  • Promoting the organisation’s advocacy agenda, issues and campaigns
  • Recruiting and develop new and unique voices in our movement
  • Leading the development of resources, including digital assets, that drive engagement and build our base of supporters and donors
  • Develop positive relationships with media, government, internal and external stakeholders

Key performance indicators: positive and effective engagement with key stakeholders; strategic contribution to advocacy goals; realisation of the key objectives in the organisation’s fundraising strategy; effective promotion and brand management for the organisation and its programs and campaigns; growth in online and supporter engagement; and securing multi-year operational and program funding. 

Knowledge, Experience, Qualifications, and Skills

The successful candidate will have proven experience in developing a donor pipeline and securing major gifts. You will have used your high-level skills in marketing, media and communications to support both advocacy and fundraising. You will have the ability to turn complex issues into simple compelling stories and develop communications strategies and products that have the power to shape the public narrative and promote the organisation’s purpose, programs and campaigns.

Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications/attributes include:
  • Qualifications in a relevant degree (e.g. communications, media, marketing, public policy, philanthropy, advocacy, politics)
  • Demonstrated success in planning and implementing impactful fundraising and marketing campaigns and events
  • Capacity to deliver impactful media and communications collateral
  • Experience in CRM systems and website management for fundraising and communications, content creation, production and distribution of EDM, development and monitoring of media and social media content
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of key stakeholders (both internal and external)
  • Experience in managing delivery of projects within strict budgets and deadlines
  • Ability to effectively manage competing priorities, work under pressure while maintaining a high level of performance
  • Highly developed verbal, written communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in supporting and mentoring staff and volunteers
  • Highly motivated to support the health sector to become leaders in the effort to tackle climate change
  • Experience in the not for profit / for purpose sector
  • Background in advocacy, campaigning and community organising
  • Graphic design skills

It is a highly respected and innovative not-for-profit, working to catalyse action on climate change through building a powerful health sector movement, nationally and internationally.
