West Wimmera Health Service provides high-quality hospital care, residential aged care, disability services and community services to more than 16,000 people in the West Wimmera region. We deliver services that are compassionate, responsive, accessible and accountable to individual and community needs and which are designed to achieve quality outcomes. We employ close to 600 staff across nine campuses at Nhill, Kaniva, Jeparit, Rainbow, Goroke, Natimuk, Murtoa, Minyip and Rupanyup.

About The Role
This is a great opportunity to join a well-established rural hospital, using your skills to hit the ground running and work with our senior managers, Board of Directors and staff to create a positive working environment and strive towards a high standard of service quality.

This role is responsible for providing the strategic leadership and developmental direction for our Human Resources and Industrial Relations functions, including formulating an organisational workforce plan, and providing advice to senior managers and the Board of Directors.

About You
You will use your proven ability to build rapport with a wide range of people at all levels, in conjunction with your clear communication skills to help guide, mentor and develop staff, deliver constructive feedback and work with staff and mangers promptly and sensitively.

You will bring to the role:

  • High level communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Undergraduate Tertiary qualification in Human Resource
  • Management or a related discipline at Bachelor Degree level.
  • Business management skills and experience.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote a culture of continual improvement resulting in positive and best practice outcomes.
  • Knowledge of relevant employment related laws, regulations, awards and enterprise agreements.
  • Clear understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements in the context of the healthcare industry.
  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Proven ability to build rapport with a wide range of people at all levels, and influence, negotiate and clearly communicate to deliver satisfactory outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide, mentor and develop staff, deliver constructive feedback and deal with underperformance promptly and sensitively.
  • Experience working with senior executives and boards of management.
