$106,074 - $119,651 (plus Super)

The Role

The Department of Defence is seeking an experienced physiotherapist to work in a dynamic role managing a team of physiotherapists across 6 facilities throughout Joint Health Unit- Northern New South Wales (JHU-NNSW), based out of Williamtown Health Centre. The EL1 Physiotherapist will be committed to driving best outcomes for members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Responsible for physiotherapy services broadly in JHU-NNSW, the EL1 Physiotherapist Manager is accountable for providing clinical treatment, leading a team, managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows, developing strategies and procedures, and evaluating business outcomes.

As the EL1 Physiotherapist Manager you will:

  • Plan, lead and manage evidence-based assessments and treatment of complex to very complex intensive, multi-factorial physical conditions within a bio-psychosocial framework to achieve defined treatment goals.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge, experience and skills in physiotherapy practices and Defence health policies to provide advice to stakeholders and mentor less experienced employees.
  • Motivate and mentor these teams, align complementary skills and allocate resources in a manner that delivers results across a number of locations in JHU-NNSW. 

NOTE: The current position is ongoing however we will be creating a merit pool to fill similar ongoing and non-ongoing positions that become available within the next 12 months.

About our Team

Joint Health Command (JHC) is responsible for the delivery of military medicine and joint healthcare services to over 70,000 Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel. JHC is also responsible for the health preparedness of ADF personnel for operations, and the coordination of health units for deployment in support of operations.

The EL1 Physiotherapist is part of Joint Health Unit - Northern New South Wales within JHC and is based at Williamtown Health Centre, RAAF Williamtown. The position reports to the CO for JHU-NNSW. Our Ideal Candidate:

The successful applicant will demonstrate extensive physiotherapy experience, critical thinking skills, be proficient at analysing workflows and business processes, provide recommendations for improvements to enhance efficiency and outcomes, and manage the implementation of agreed actions.

They will have experience in managing, developing and mentoring staff through performance appraisal and change, providing expert clinical mentoring and training to assist in the development of staff.

They will work within a regional team whilst applying a structured and nationally consistent service, as directed by policy and their technical chain.
