The Opportunity

The role is based in Deakin, Canberra, and provides significant input to the Australian College of Nursing‘s (ACN) advocacy and policy positions. As a Policy team member, you will be responsible for providing policy advice and analysis on key health practice issues affecting the nursing profession, including health systems and financing, hospital funding, and issues relating to safety, quality and digital transformation of the health system.

What it takes

To excel in this role you will need to have a strong understanding of the Australian health system, with interest and experience in the areas of health and hospital system funding, safety and quality, and the registration and regulation of nurses. Our ideal candidate will also have a strong background in and understanding of issues for health policy and be able to:

Selection Criteria

  • Conduct high-level research and in-depth analysis on issues to advance ACN policy on behalf of members, the nursing profession and community.
  • Produce high quality briefs, background papers, policy and position statements, discussion and white papers.
  • Develop submissions, respond to relevant consultations, and write reports for internal and external audiences.
  • Respond to written and verbal inquiries from members, the public and other organisations in a timely and professional manner.
  • Communicate, advocate and represent ACN’s positions at key forums, conferences or committee meetings.
  • Provide secretariat support to ACN’s Policy Chapters.
