The Australasian College of Dermatologists is the sole medical college accredited by the Australian Medical Council for the training and continuing professional development of medical practitioners in the specialty of dermatology. We are the leading authority in Australia for dermatology, providing information, advocacy and advice to individuals, communities, government and other health stakeholders on skin health and dermatological practice.

The role:

As a valued member of our team you will use your project management, stakeholder engagement, advocacy and health promotion or workforce planning skills and experience to lead and coordinate implementation of College’s Regional and Rural Workforce Strategy and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Workforce Strategy.  These strategies aim to strengthen the rural workforce and address gaps in healthcare access for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and regional, rural and remote communities. 

This includes an exciting opportunity to develop a new skin health promotion project for and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and stakeholders and to play a lead role in the development and coordination of our Reconciliation Action Plans.

Essential:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and relevant work experience – minimum 3 years
  • Previous experience of health promotion or health workforce planning and advocacy
  • Confident and culturally competent verbal and written communication skills that motivate, create influence, shape opinion and facilitate input
  • Ability to gather, research and synthesise information and data from a broad range of sources
  • Experience managing projects involving multiple stakeholders
  • Critical thinking, problem solving
  • Proven ability to work both independently and on collaborative projects.  

Desirable:

  • Experience in external relations, media, advocacy and promotional work
  • Previous experience of engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and organisations on collaborative initiatives
  • Previous involvement in developing and implementing Reconciliation Action Plans
  • Member organisation experience.
