Monday, October 1, 2012

The conference was hosted by The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards, the Australian Healthcare & Hospitals Association and the Women’s and Children’s Healthcare Australasia in Sydney from September 24-27.

Professor John Deeble AO attended the AHHA’s launch of the Deeble Institute, a unique collaboration between the university and public healthcare sectors. It aims to bring researchers together with health care practitioners and policymakers to tackle key health policy changes. Professor Vivian Lin from La Trobe University is the Inaugural Chair of the Institute Board and its inaugural Director is Dr Anne-marie Boxall.

Conference discussions canvassed the state of progress on health reforms, and the shift towards a greater focus on public reporting of the performance of governments and health services, which is expected to drive improvements in patients’ care and outcomes.
