Strengthening the public hospital system and increasing the safety and quality of health care are key priorities of the Australian Healthcare and Hospitals' Association's (AHHA) 2008-09 Federal Budget Submission, released today.
"This Budget offers the opportunity to build on the strategies already being implemented by the Labor Government and strengthen the capacity of our public hospital system to provide high quality care to all Australians," Ms Prue Power, Executive Director, said today.
"AHHA welcomes the Government's proposed National Health Care and Hospitals Reform Commission and proposes additional funding to ensure that the Commission is able to develop and implement a comprehensive program of health system reform, in consultation with interest groups and consumers. We also support the allocation of ongoing funding for this important body.
