The Quantum Leap Scholarship for undergraduate and post-graduate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students

Sponsored by the Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association (AHHA), Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) and HESTA

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled part-time or full-time in a degree at an Australian University are invited to apply for a scholarship to the value of $3160. Supported by HESTA, the scholarship includes registration to attend The Quantum Leap conference (and associated travel, meals and accommodation) and a cash allocation to assist with ongoing study costs. The Quantum Leap is the Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association and Australian Council on Healthcare Standards’ National Conference  to be held on 9-10 September 2014 in Sydney.

Value of Scholarships: $3,160

Consisting of:

·         12 months student membership of the AHHA ($220)

·         Registration for the AHHA/ACHS The Quantum Leap Conference to be held in Sydney from 9-10 September 2014.($440)

·         Accommodation, meals and travel costs to Sydney (approx. $1500)

·         Cash payment to assist with general study costs (balance of value)

 

Eligibility:

·         Be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student enrolled in an undergraduate or post-graduate degree at an Australian University;

·         Be undertaking undergraduate or postgraduate level studies in one of the following disciplines: aged care, allied health, dentistry/oral health, community health, health promotion, medicine, mental health, midwifery, nursing, population health.

·         Provide a statement outlining your motivation to study in a health field and how the attending The Quantum Leap conference will support your professional career.

·         Be able to demonstrate sound academic achievement.

Selection:

Scholarship winners will be selected by a Scholarship Selection Committee comprising:

·         Chief Executive, AHHA;

·         A representative from HESTA; and

·         A member of the AHHA National Council.
 

Shortlisted applicants may be required to participate in a telephone interview in early August.
