Australia currently lacks mandatory warning labels on alcohol products, which sets it apart from many other countries. Drawing on evidence from tobacco labelling, the brief recommends that policymakers contemplate implementing prominent labels on the front of alcohol packaging. These labels should feature clear, simple, direct, and accurate pictorial messages illustrating specific alcohol-related harms. To enhance effectiveness, the messages should be changed regularly and include information about alcohol treatment and advice services.
