Shaping young leaders for the future of Australia’s health
The Australian health system is both large and complex, and bridging the gap between knowledge gained through health services research and its application to policy and practice is difficult.
Without evidence informed health policy, programs and policies at the local level, cannot benefit those populations who need them the most.
Opportunities to strengthen the capacity of emerging health leaders to be able to respond to current and emerging health issues are limited.
The Deeble Institute for Health Policy Research currently offers the only opportunity of its kind in Australia for PhD students and early researchers to acquire the expertise needed to become proficient health policy practitioners.
This unique program empowers scholars to facilitate the knowledge exchange between health services research into government, while also allowing them to apply their policy skills in academic settings.
The Scholarship program at the Deeble Institute for Health Policy Research has effectively enhanced the intersection between health services research and policy.
Scholars participating in the program have been instrumental in the development of health policy and have made significant contributions to the reform of the Australian health system.
Their work, grounded in practical policy solutions, has played a crucial role in shaping and improving the healthcare landscape in Australia.
With your support, we can make a difference
Your support is needed to help shape our future health leaders for good health policy outcomes and a healthier Australia in the long term.
We are committed to transparency, with a focus on sharing details of our achievements.
We look to develop and implement innovative and sustainable approaches to building and growing the Deeble Institute for Health Policy Research that enable:
- Funding for health policy Scholarships and Fellowships.
- Programs that support and foster better health policy development.
- New initiatives that contribute to building the evidence base for value-based health care.
