Following the release of the 2024-25 Federal Budget on Tuesday 14 May, AHHA and ANU are partnering to host the Post-Budget Health Leaders Roundtable event.
This event will bring together researchers, policy makers and health service leaders from across Australia’s health system for a nuanced, evidence-based and implementation focused discussion of the current health policy challenges and reform solutions.
This roundtable event will include a series of panel sessions on the topics of significance for national health policy, including healthcare affordability, access and equity, and Closing the Gap.
Blair Comley PSM, Secretary of the Department of Health and Aged Care will deliver the opening address.
Roundtable panellists include:
- Professor Sharon Friel, Director, Australian Research Centre for Health Equity, ANU School of Regulation and Global Governance.
- Professor Stephen Robson, Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialist (public and private) and President of Australian Medical Association (AMA).
- Fiona Cornforth, Centre Head, ANU National Centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Wellbeing Research.
- Clare Mullen, Executive Director, Health Consumers’ Council (WA).
- Nicole Bartholomeusz, Chief Executive, cohealth.
- Professor Michael Woods, Professor of Health Economics at the Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE), UTS.
- Karen Booth, President at Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA).
- Natalie Siegel-Brown, Commissioner, Productivity Commission.
