Salary Range:  $86,887 – $93,066 (APS 5) + Super

The Role
Joint Health Unit, South Queensland (JHU-SQ) is looking for a highly motivated, outcomes-focused Pathology Coordinator to join their dynamic team. Join a team of health professionals providing high quality health care to members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

This is a dynamic role, working within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. The successful candidate will be working in the Enoggera Health Centre pathology department and coordinate and contribute to a wide range of administrative and coordination activities to ensure patients receive the highest possible standard of care.

These duties may include coordinating the provision of advice and guidance to others on complex pathological services, performing pathology services including blood bank testing, serology, haematology, microbiology and biochemistry to support the region, as well as maintaining a database relevant to the processing of pathological test specimens.

Another key aspect of this role is extensive engagement with other relevant stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for ADF members. Initiative and the ability to work autonomously are essential, particularly as this position is comprised of a smaller team.

This position reports to the Health Centre Manager at Enoggera Health Centre in Brisbane.

Skills and Experience – Our Ideal Candidate
An enthusiastic self-starter, our ideal candidate will have experience in managing as a Pathology Coordinator and be confident in working independently. They must demonstrate sound judgment and knowledge to make decisions that are in the best interests of the patient and that comply with legislation, regulatory frameworks and Defence policies.

As a pathology coordinator, they must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. They must be able to develop productive relationships with various stakeholders both internal and external to Defence. The ability to foster a service-focused and positive work culture is essential in ensuring that all team members are working towards shared objectives.

The ideal candidate must be flexible and adaptable. They will be comfortable with managing change and responding to short-notice tasks. They will have the ability to anticipate, identify, and respond to changing priorities. They will also be committed to ongoing professional development for both themselves and their team, and be prepared to mentor and train junior team members to achieve optimal outcomes.
