Knowledge Exchange short course and workshops

Deeble Institute for Health Policy Research

Do you want policy makers to take more notice of your research?

The Deeble Institute for Health Policy Research Knowledge Exchange short course is designed to assist academic and clinician researchers to make their work more accessible and useful to policy makers, practitioners and the community; and will assist researchers and clinicians to select evidence for implementation.

Tailored to meet individual or organisational needs, course sessions cover a range of topics, including:

  • Why academics and clinicians should participate in research exchange,
  • The different communication strategies needed for different audiences; what can go wrong and why this happens.
  • How to identify key stakeholders and plan ongoing pro-active stakeholder engagement around research outcomes and implications for policy.
  • The realities of the policymaking process and the environment in which policymakers work;
  • Engaging effectively with the media and non-academic audiences; and
  • Opportunities to secure funding for policy and practice-relevant research.

Combining theory with a strong practical focus, we deliver training on the fundamentals of writing for policy makers and communicating in the mainstream media.
