Professor Kirsten McCaffery is a behavioural scientist and NHMRC Principal Research Fellow with expertise in shared decision making, health literacy, and psychosocial outcomes. She is Director of Policy and Prevention at the University of Sydney’s School of Public Health and leads the Sydney Health Literacy Lab. Kirsten co-founded Wiser Healthcare, a collaboration of 100+ researchers across three Australian universities. Her research focuses on overdiagnosis, health communication in vulnerable populations, and behaviour change, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methods. She has secured over $60 million in research funding and has 400+ publications in top medical journals.
