DAMA is more prevalent in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population, especially for those living in rural and remote areas. However, there is renewed determination to substantively address disadvantage in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. Henceforth, this issues brief aims to explore the causes of and workable solutions to self-discharge among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
