A sizable portion of the health challenges faced by Australia’s First Peoples is attributed to food insecurity and nutrition-related chronic conditions. Before colonization, Indigenous communities experienced robust physical, social, and cultural well-being for millennia.
As a result, this issues brief outlines the adverse health consequences stemming from the disruption of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural practices. It further explores effective strategies within nutrition programs to address these challenges and contribute to narrowing the health gap.
