The 2024 John Deeble Lecture – Beyond boundaries: Leadership for health

28 November 2024

The John Deeble Lecture, established by the Deeble Institute for Health Policy Research and the Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association, honours the legacy of Professor John Deeble AO, a renowned scholar, health economist, and leader in health policy who passed away on October 5, 2018.

Previous lectures have featured prominent speakers such as Mr Michael Brennan, former Chair of the Productivity Commission, who presented ‘Towards an Integrated Workforce’ in 2022, and Professor Nigel Edwards, former CEO of the Nuffield Trust UK, who delivered ‘When Good Health Policy Goes Bad’ in 2019.

On October 15, 2024, the 3rd John Deeble Lecture, themed ‘Beyond Boundaries: Leadership for Health’, was delivered by Professor Jonathon Gray, Professor of Innovation, Improvement, and Leadership at Swansea University and Director of the Commonwealth Leadership Institute. Professor Gray highlighted the critical role of emerging health leaders in offering fresh perspectives and providing valuable insights to address complex health challenges.

You can listen to our The Health Advocate podcast episode, The 2024 John Deeble Lecture and an introduction by Professor Michael Pervan, on the AHHA website.
