Religious discrimination reforms

Religious discrimination reforms

1 January 2020

Religious discrimination legislation currently under consideration by the Australian Government may potentially have an adverse impact on:

  • the ability of governments to effectively and equitably provide health services to Australians, and
  • the health of a person when access to health services is denied, delayed or compromised.

In a country committed to universal health care, a fair, moral and ethical balance must be struck between the right to freedom of religion and the right to health.
